Xiaomi Mi 5 camera samples emerge online

There’s a lot of excitement building around the Xiaomi Mi 5 in the run-up to its launch on February 24 in China and Barcelona. The company is looking to further stoke the flames of this anticipation by posting evidence of the smartphone’s camera abilities online.

Xiaomi President Lin Bin took to his Weibo account to share images which were captured using the Mi 5. The camera samples are quite impressive, taking into account some degree of compression that the photos must have undergone when it was uploaded. Both are taken at a beach and feature bright colors and sharp details.

As seen on GizmoChina, the focus of both the pictures is a bird in mid-flight. This is probably the most impressive aspect of the snaps, given there’s no visible blur or shake despite a moving subject. Achieving this much clarity would likely require some good quality tech specs. While Xiaomi hasn’t revealed what exactly these might be, previous rumors had posited the phone would carry a 16MP rear camera.

A quick look at the rumored specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 5:

– Display: 5.2-inch, QHD/FHD
– OS: Android 5.1 Lollipop-based MIUI 7
– Processor: quad-core Snapdragon 820
– GPU: Adreno 530
– Battery: 3600mAh
– Storage: 32GB/64GB
– RAM: 3GB/4GB
– Cameras: 16MP rear, 13MP front

This module might possibly be accompanied by laser autofocus, optical image stabilization and dual-tone LED flash. Bear in mind the new images could have been taken by professionals and edited before being made public. Still, the photos do show off the capabilities of the Mi 5 when it comes to clicking pictures.

Stay tuned for more on the Xiaomi Mi 5 as and when more details about the flagship device emerge up till its unveiling on February 24.
